#BostonCoffeeTalk March Ft. Elissa Garza

#BostonCoffeeTalk Date: March 26,2016 Location: Caffe Nero Jamaica Plain Once again   great energy, inviting  and stylish influencers filled the room last weekend at Caffe Nero. March featured guest was Boston  Girl Boss Elissa Garza of Style Wire.  Since meeting her 2 years ago at a Marie Claire feature shoot, she got and  kept my attention with her drive,  cool-chic style and consistency.                                   Caffe Nero JP may just be our permanent location.  With a window seat so wide and inviting,  you feel  connected to the community and by passers all while building inside.                                                                 Styles introduced themselves one by one  before I could even extend a hand. Every garment and detail so intentional and personal.   Tailored fits to thigh high boots, stacked accessories, fringes and pops of brights…my eyes …

Pretty Little things

This is a Love story… Not the one between two individuals but the love I have for a good ole vintage piece.  I’m talking with no tags and unfinished seams that indicate the handcrafted nature of the item and the talent that executed it. I’m talking pretty little things like this lace vintage dress. My love for vintage goes beyond the trend. For me it’s the fact that these pieces have lived longer than me, and would have tons of stories to share if they could speak. And because they can’t, I make up my own story in my head; which always ends up involving, love, happiness and food. I mean what else would you be doing in such a beautiful dress?! I wore this look to a family wedding in  Philly a few weeks ago. At first I was a bit  hesitant about the off white, but then got the okay and ended up not being the only one wearing this color. Lace is just so pretty. It felt like Easter Sundays in Brooklyn when …

My Way

Sports jacket, wool hat, bamboo earrings and a pencil skirt?!… Not a combo I’ve seen before, but it felt good and it was my way. The top  needed a sultry touch, so a halfway zip and off the shoulder it was. I always had a “why not?!” mentality when it came to style. Since a child I’ve been this way. Always curious, like what if ribbons (Haitian kid struggles) looked better as belts? Let me not forget  to mention the high school “why not’s” that ended up being my mother’s vintage elbow length leather gloves with a matching leather skirt… just because I was feeling fabulous. Like I was dead serious and you couldn’t tell me nothing. Wasn’t doing any homework, but I sure was in touch with whatever character was in my head that day and owned it! The thought of dressing the way everyone else did made absolutely no sense to me if it didn’t come naturally. This attitude got me in trouble in other areas of my childhood but dressing up was the …

Not So Mellow, Yellow!

Nothing makes me happier than bright colors. Days when I’m over the top happy and bubbly I want it to show. This outfit is the quickest way to describe my mood without me having to tell you. Clothes don’t get any happier than this yellow and white jumpsuit from 40South street. I wore it once before to a graduation party and paired it with royal blue satin strap peep toes that had a small diamond embroider buckle (details matter!).   This time around, I wanted it to be worn differently. Most importantly, appropriate for the day I was having. It’s so easy to wear our pieces the same way ALL. THE. TIME…. BORING! So of course I threw on my favorite pair of heels aka my Converse sneakers that I purposely keep beat up. They are just not as fun clean… like where’s the personality? What’s the story?! It was a little awkward when I picked up my six year old from school. I’m happily walking to the line and here are the other parents looking …
