Get it from her Momma!

Hahahaha what  a stupid title, but what am I gonna do leave it blank?  I mean this dress deserves some sort of acknowledgement here.Anyways.  I wore this dress last week to attend South N The City picnic on Governors Island.  As usual I don’t plan my outfits  in advance, so the night before my flight packing got a little something like ” Love the color”, “Less Print” , This could be good incase I find somewhere to go!”.  Nothing set in stone because again dressing is about showing or highlighting an emotion and mood.  There is not telling with me how I’ll feel or what mood I’m in. I purchased this dress from my mothers closet last week while she was getting rid of pieces she wasn’t attached to anymore or the fit was bad.  Message: Declutter Declutter your closets! So on my way to the airport I noticed that this dress was sitting in the back seat and not packed in my carry on which at that point had no room for not even …

Perfect pants- Purchase with a purpose

I switched up more than my hair lately.  The closet  has been gutted out a few times a month.  For  each item I brought home about three were donated. Swapping out some pieces that were no longer of interest or of  good use for necessary items. So yes I evaluate my closet just as I do for my clients. Wide legged trousers have been on my personal shopping list since the Summer. After avoiding online shopping for a while, I finally gave in.  Got past admiration and ordered these squash colored pants from Asos. I knew that they would transition well through all seasons and I would get my moneys worth of wear.   Purchasing with a purpose is so important.  If you can’t think of two- three ways to style a piece, don’t buy it. Buying just to buy is how clutter starts and the famous “I have nothing to wear”  line comes about.  The truth is you most likely have a closet full of things you don’t need which causes the gems in …

RED- Monochromatic

RED- with a vengeance.  Like somebody talked about my Momma type of vengeance! The obsession with red is real. From Easter dresses in Brooklyn to a grown Woman with too many red staples to count. But it’s like that sometimes, a whole lot of it. No cares sprinkled with a bit of attitude….maybe a lot.  I don’t do monochromatic red often because its such a loud color and because I’m usually wearing some shade of it anyways.  When I do(any monochromatic look) ,  the first thing I keep in mind are the textures and tones.  Either the tones  are exact or  just a few shades off  and I mean very little. As far as textures- some materials don’t compliment each other well or will make one texture look more dull than it really is. They definitely should compliment each other. I will be doing a monochromatic  breakdown  soon! Hope this look gave you the energy you need to have a great Monday!   Wearing: Vintage/ costume jewelry H&M Sweater(Sold out online) Options here Faux Leather skirt(gift)  Similar hues at ASOS , Macy’s and Miss Guided Aldo …

Boston Coffee Talk- Sofa Cafe

#Bostoncoffeetalk October was held at Sofa Cafe on Newbury street.(last one here )  Once again it was a ton of fun. I met some new folks who met some new folks. Honestly anytime strangers can make  friends, network and be fashionable all over a cup of coffee….its a win. This Cafe was intimate and colorful.  I fell in love  with the exposed brick walls and of course the retro sofas and pastel blue china…So vintage.  May have to go back for a shoot! Fall Fashion was in full effect.  I was definitely inspired to get new boots, denim and break out the pastels!   Photography: Tony Hyppolite Thank you to the Sofa Cafe team and  to all those that came out! Next Boston Coffee talk  is November 14th…more details to follow! You know I couldn’t leave you without a video recap, subscribe to my channel and look out for more videos! Share This:

Cherry Garden- Monochramatic

Nothing gets the point across like a monochromatic look, especially in the Fall. Its the perfect season to wear your favorite hues and the luxury of layering without our faces melting. I wore this last month for #Bostoncoffeetalk when the weather was just starting to cool down. “Be an adult and prepare your clothes” is what I told myself the night before. So I thought “I want to wear this Men’s shirt” and maybe with “that black and white sequins jacket and my distressed denim”.  Of course I woke up and the outfit wasn’t appealing anymore.  I thought “Vanessa its coffee”  then I thought “Who are you fooling, you’re Vanessa and there is no such thing as too much for any occasion.  Especially if it comes naturally. Suddenly a whole lot of red came to mind. While shooting the promo for the #Bostoncoffeetalk(Next one this weekend Saturday) I came across this Kate Spade Fall 2015 spread with all of this red  and plaid in it. And there was the inspiration for this cherry/burgundy collabo. Oh and …

Boston Coffee Talk- Ogawa Coffee

Last Saturday Sep 5th, I hosted a meet up called “Coffee Talk” #Bostoncoffeetalk.  I wanted to meet, socialize and build with other Bostonians in an organic way. No rsvps and no excessive advertising….just come out and have coffee. For me the mornings are when I reflect and set the tone for my day, so what better way to do it with others than over coffee in an intimate setting.  Ogawa Coffee was my first choice to hold this first meet up. A sucker for presentation, I immediately fell in love with the shops high ceilings and their inviting exposed windows.  Happy to say that the customer service and food was nothing short of amazing. Another talk is definitely on the way. Stay tuned for details.   Here are some snaps and street style  from the day. Photographer: Harem Graphia   Here is a video from the meet up! Subscribe and hope to see you at the next one! Thank you to everyone who attended and to the Ogawa Coffee team for a wonderful experience!!!! Share This:
